Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@littlecreekfarm.co.nz if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We understand that not everyone has the space or need for a whole animal. That’s why we also offer the option to buy 1/4 or 1/2 an animal. When two 1/2 orders or two 1/4 orders match up, we can process them together.

We also recommend splitting an animal with family or friends – it’s a great way to enjoy fresh, farm-to-table meat, exactly how you like it, without needing all the freezer space yourself.

Good question! For us, regenerative farming is all about looking after the land so it can look after us. It’s a way of farming that helps rebuild the soil.

At Little Creek Farm, we follow the following principles:

- Keep the soil covered

- Harness diversity

- Maintain living roots in the soil

- Manage livestock holistically

- Minimise soil disturbance

- Maximise photosynthesis

We support the idea of everything working together in balance: the soil, grass, trees, insects and animals.

To give you an idea of some of the cuts available; eye fillet steak, sirloin steak, scotch fillet steak, rump steak, schnitzel, BBQ steak, brisket (boneless or bone in), rolled roasts, pot roasts, corned silverside, shin bone in, stewing beef (or mince), premium mince, and preservative free & gluten free or flavoured/gourmet sausages.

Please see our butchers’ forms for the exact cuts available in your selected area.

Our cattle are grazed for short, intense periods, which allows them to fertilise, trample, and impact the soil. This keeps them happy and healthy while improving soil fertility and grass quality. The cattle are not returned to the same paddock until it has time to recover. This way of feeding mimics the natural grazing habits of wild herds and lets us farm in a way that’s good for the environment and for future generations.

We raise a variety of different cattle on our farm. The next group of cattle that will be ready for harvest in 2025 are pure bred Hereford.

Current regulations prohibit "home-killed" meat being sold to the public. However, thanks to recent regulatory work and operational innovation (such as mobile abattoirs operating under licence), it is now possible to offer meat directly from our farm to you. For more information about the mobile abattoir we use, please visit Earth First Foods website.
